ASHES TIME !!!
Welll.... this could be a very close affair ..... Stocks are thin for you Brits and the Aussies batting line-up is all over the place !... Baring any injuries (fingers crossed) Our bowling is looking very good especially the quicks.
Who have you guys got ... Your all rounder Ben Stokes suspended for brawling in a Pub (little snicker..) ...
I'm not saying too much guys... our form is at best average with not much 'long' game practice on our own decks....
What do YOU reckon ???

It's on from next Thursday Dave...
Up at the Gabba in Queensland....
Our selectors might even pick a wicketkeeper who currently doesn't keep for his state side.... weird...

Australia Squad: Steve Smith (c), David Warner (vc), Cameron Bancroft, Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb, Shaun Marsh, Tim Paine (wk), Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood, Jackson Bird, Chadd Sayers.
Yep... They've done it... Tim Paine leapfrogs over two others.... Time will tell I suppose...

Re: ASHES TIME !!!
Looks like it Ha Ha !!
Already got a couple of injury worries...
David Warner (sore neck)
Shaun Marsh (recurring crook back) Glenn Maxwell who was dropped for this test has recalled to the squad in case Marsh doesn't come up...
Well... IT ALL STARTS THIS MORNING IN BRISBANE !!
BIT OVER 1 HOUR ... THE COUNTDOWN IS ON !
Bat or bowl first... Pitch will be green but that doesn't mean much up there...
I feel it will be a good toss to lose...

England won the toss and chose to bat.... And looking good so far...
Lost Cook in the first over... but that's been the only one... closing onto lunch.. and 50 runs on the board.

Re: ASHES TIME !!!
Interesting stuff on the first day/nights play...
Root won the toss and elected to bowl ... strange move..
A couple of stoppages due to rain.
Currently 4 for 204.. hard going for the Aussies Handscomb and Marsh taking their time...

Agree...
They needed to get more Aussie wickets ...
Good to see a bit of niggle between Anderson and Smith....

Re: ASHES TIME !!!
I tell you what Dave.... I know conditions helped but that was some of the best swing and seam bowling I ve seen for a long time.
Your batsmen fluffed it but some runs by the tailenders did ok...Just over 200 runs short of our total. Instead of enforcing the follow on Smith decided to bat.... at night... We are currently 4 wickets for not many runs... I think we have an overnight lead of 260-odd. All the English bowlers used did a great job Our batsmen had no idea ! Well If we can get some more runs and bat during most of the day tomorrow, then get stuck into your boys... It might go our way... but you never know... The Brits Have Their Tails Up !
The Wicketkeeper John Bairstow copped a brute of a ball on a finger... In a lot of pain... Being an exp keeper I can totally sympathise and empathise ..... Got a few out of shape fingers of my own.

Re: ASHES TIME !!!
Let's face it ... I'd love to see Australia thrash you guys.... And vice-versa from you guys... naturally!
But.... when I bowlers do what I saw last night ... I likened it to Bob Massie and Mike Procter.. The Batsmen don't know what's coming next.... and it's great to see in these days of batsmen friendly pitches... well in Aus at least...

Not to be Guys....
First Over.. Woakes Out!
Root didn't add to his overnight score shortly after...
Others didn't last long..... Aussie win by 120 runs.
Aus Captain Steve Smith can breath a sigh of relief ...
On to Perth for the next Test match.

Re: ASHES TIME !!!
I expected more as well ....
I think they were knackered from the hard work and pressure from the previous night..... lapse in concentration.... I've seen it during my playing days... after drinks or tea a batsman playing well prior will play a loose shot out of the blue... bang ! got him.....
Needed not to lose those last 2 wickets overnight.... for any chance.... I was still nervous mind you..
