Olympics
Just watched the opening ceremony for the Olympics and I must say well done
Two criticisms though.
No1..The Queen was a miserable old biddy, who didn't seem to care much when England came into the arena,
looked like she was too busy doing her nails, Think she should step down, she has had a good run and let the younger generation have a go.
Sorry to all the Royalists out there...
Think I'm gonna get clobbered for this post. Maybe.
No2...Sir Paul McCartney is past his use by date as a singer and should retire.
He was great in his earlier years with The Beatles and later with Wings.
And as far as the Olympics go...Good luck to all combatants and let the Sledging begin..

Re: Olympics
I've been watching some of the Women's basketball (my oldest daughter plays travel basketball) and am enjoying it. Not as interested in the Men's... As you can imagine, I prefer the winter Olympics for the Hockey!!! Though I wish the Americans would stop sending pro athletes to the games... One reason why I am not interested in this "Dream Team" crap with Men's Basketball. The Olympics is not what I remember it from being a kid... too commercial, too much greed. The good thing is the athletes still represent their countries and it is glorious for them when they succeed.

Re: Olympics
Must agree Tracy,
The daughters played badminton so they want to watch that, but it's a minority sport so it won't get much air time.
I like watching the hockey and cycling as well. The 'pretty boys' in the swiming gets a lot of play here. I'll pass...

Re: Olympics
Watched the cross country today, a couple of our riders horses fell, a shame, they were doing quite well too.
Zara Phillips did well and there were some beautiful horses on display.
The weather looks good down South as well, beleive your getting some rain up North Dave.

Re: Olympics
Make him go back to teaching... Or was he lacking on that side of things as well...
As Kenny Rogers sings... "Know when to fold em' "
Hey...
Surely there must be events your folks are favourites in....?
We have a few going well in the sailing and rowing events. Mens hockey team. Being favourites doesn't always translate into Gold or even a medal...
As long as the weather holds... Or have you guys buggered that up as well as all the empty seats... ?
Sorry. Joking only !!

Isn't that a typical English summer??
Last time I was there I kept asking where's your Summer, and the reply was..You should have been here last week.
Seriously the weather hasn't looked too bad on the telly.
